Qiyaamul layl-thanks to the phantom in the night..

Ever have one of those nights that whatever you do you just can't fall asleep?!
Those who don't know, i am a borderline insomniac(diagnosed by myself of course!)
My over active imagination has been snatching  precious zzzs away from me since as long as i can remember. From  the monsters under the bed to the  Dawat ending in disaster -i've worried about it all!
Last night was no exception-i lay in bed trying to find a cool part of the pillow listening out for the inevitable "DRIP" of a yet still unknown source. After enduring the "drip drip" for ,what seemed like an eternity, i decided to get out of bed..shut the door and try to go back to "sleep".Before i even got back in the bed my husband dearest began shouting in his sleep.A very rare happening- he is normally dead to the world unless woken with extreme force(ok-maybe not extreme..)
"EVERYBODY NEEDS A TURN!"...ok...so i tried to ignore him-then wake him up as he continued..crazy babbling of only those lost in the dream state.I wake him up- switch on the lamp (at this point i need a light on).He was insisting i stop questioning him...to which i answered with questions..What are you talking about? Are you sleep talking?etc this carried on for a while until my dearest phantom was also confused and with a slightly sheepish "sorry" promptly turned around and went to sleep again!
Well, you can imagine my sleep was well and truly out of the window..so hence my night of Qiyaamul Layl!
It may not have been intentional but those few hours before suhoor were wonderful. When all is quiet and the only person is you and your Creator. In the tiny hours of the night you can reflect on yesterday's mistakes and look forward to making a change for tomorrow.
The point of this post isn't to boast- but to encourage myself and others to try and join the Tahajjud wakers. For many who have to wake early in the morning - it may be difficult.Try waking up five minutes early for suhoor, that way you can pray Tahajjud before eating. In Ramadhaan we all wake up before fajr salaah so we have the perfect opportunity to perform Tahajjud;even if we are unable to make it on a regular basis - we shouldn't let this chance slip away!

Abu Hurayrah(ra) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
Our Lord descends every night, during the last third of it, to the skies of this world, and asks: ‘Who is making du’aa to me, so that I can respond to him? Who is asking Me, so that I can give him? Who is asking for My forgiveness, so that I can forgive him?’
Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim

Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, "Every night there is a special time during which whatever a Muslim asks Allah of any good relating to this life or the Hereafter, it will be granted to him; and this moment comes every night.''
[Muslim].

Change those Alarms!
Allah make us from those whom with he is pleased. Ameen
