Marrakesh Day 4

  The next places on our list of places to go were Asni, Imlil and Lalla Takerkoust lake. Situated in the foothills of the Atlas mountains, these quiet towns have a lot to offer for those looking for something slightly off road, a little different. The drive from Marrakech to Asni is very scenic and pretty. Within minutes you leave behind the noise of the Medina and are on the open road. Universal sign that you have reached the countryside.   In Asni there are a few cafes where one can find a good tagine for lunch overlooking the river, where women can be seen doing their washing and carpets are laid out to dry on bushes. They have a souk for those wishing to shop and pick up a bargain. Busy markets and bargaining with locals can be overwhelming  and most things can be found in Marrakesh, so I didn't really venture to the souk. On our third day in Marrakesh, we decided to visit the old palaces, as well as making a trip to Ourika Valley. Bahiyya and Badi Palace were all within walking distance from our Riad. The weather was good, so after breakfast, we set off. Bahia Palace Inside Bahia Palace Courtyard inside Bahia Palace Orange trees in the courtyard Loved the architecture. For those who do want to shop, there are an endless amount of shops with everything you can think of. We managed to visit both palaces before lunch and had enough time to have a short rest before leaving for Ourika. Salaah break ...
