Marrakesh Day 4
The next places on our list of places to go were Asni, Imlil and Lalla Takerkoust lake.
Situated in the foothills of the Atlas mountains, these quiet towns have a lot to offer for those looking for something slightly off road, a little different.
The drive from Marrakech to Asni is very scenic and pretty. Within minutes you leave behind the noise of the Medina and are on the open road.
In Asni there are a few cafes where one can find a good tagine for lunch overlooking the river, where women can be seen doing their washing and carpets are laid out to dry on bushes. They have a souk for those wishing to shop and pick up a bargain. Busy markets and bargaining with locals can be overwhelming and most things can be found in Marrakesh, so I didn't really venture to the souk. ( yes. you heard that right I missed a shopping opportunity).
Imlil is not very far from Asni, this is a quiet Berber village with amazing views of the atlas mountains. I enjoyed people watching. The locals people seemed to live so differently to us and our fast paced lifestyle.
Not far from here is Lake Lalla Takerkoust.
The lake has the snowy mountains in the backdrop. Here, you can choose to take a walk , go quad biking, jet ski or simply take in the views and breathe in the fresh air.

| Mint tea. When in rome... |
The weather was lovely, not too hot.Later on I did reach for a cardi as it was slightly windy by the water. I wouldn't say this is a must visit, but for those who have the time it is a pleasant day out. We had a meal, sipped tea, and ended up speaking to a couple who had retired and moved from England and had now settled in the small town by the lake.
