My neighbours supporting ukip and I don't know how I feel about it..
A tiny smidgen of people have asked why I've been MIA for eons. My answer to you- I don't get as much comfort blogging on a PC than I would curled up with a laptop.
Either way, it's high time I had a bit of a clear out-(in the old brain department that is) and typing it out on to a screen and hitting the send button (or in this case "publish "), is quite therapeutic.
I've lived at this place for well over a year now and Alhamdulillah get on really well with both neighbours on both sides. I usually stop and have a chat with them, exchange gifts etc. A good relationship. I've never felt strange or weird at all, until last week - when I saw a UKIP poster in my neighbour's window.
With the elections coming up, many of you may have received posters to stick in your window or flyers from your local MP's. (Mine usually goes straight into the recycle bin). After seeing the poster glaring at me from the window it's been niggling away at the back of my mind. I brought up the topic when I went to my parents - and then I found out that they too had received a poster from UKIP.
I've talked about it with my family, assured them that my neighbour is really nice, and he is not supporting UKIP because of us. They reassured me, that it's most probably his views on Europe, the reason why most people are voting for them.
We still behave the same with him and haven't changed how we act with him and he with us. If anything I feel that I should make even more of an effort.. maybe I'll only feel better once I've asked him about it, or the hubby brings it up in convo whilst talking about lawn sprays.
HMM... In this case, I still feel very confused.com about the whole thing. Anyone had similar experiences?!
This post, if anything has left me feeling slightly depressed. Islamophobia is real and for today is making me feel a tad paranoid.
Allah knows best, and may he help and guide us all. Ameen
