Autumn days
Salaams All
Feels like a very long time since I've last posted anything.I'm currently recovering from the flu and am feeling a little bleugh.
September always seems so drab. The cold is setting in, and the summer holidays are well and truly over. The bitter wind and heavy downpours reminding us of just how chilly winter can be. Despite the grey and the doom and gloom -isn't Autumn just so beautiful?! The lovely shades of coppery reds, oranges and yellows splashed all around.
As a child, I remember being wrapped up warm in a duffel coat(and bowler hat in my case) stepping on freshly fallen leaves. Loving the crackly, crispy rustle. The satisfying CRUNCH sound of the blanket of leaves on the usual boring cracked paving. Now all I hear is mums shouting, "there could be dog poo under them leaves" lol!!!
I would also collect conkers and my brother and I would soak them in all sorts and try to collect shoelaces of old shoes to string up our buffed conkers; which we could play with, tirelessly, for hours on end! Did any of you play with conkers?!
Despite all the romance and nostalgia of school days, one thing I am glad I no longer have to do is run around a huge pitch, in my PE kit, come hail snow or showers. (The wind freezing your face off- your nose running (you get the picture lol)..unable to stop at the side and have a good blow- that's a whole other post!)
Now I can just sit under a cosy blanket sipping a hot chocolate with the curtains open watching the rain ,and type about the good old days.
Let's pause and take a minute to look at Allah's wonderful creation. The world is ever changing around us and time flies by too quickly. There are always a million things to do, and deadlines to meet. Put the kettle on, have a breather, and soak in your new surroundings!
Take care all and keep warm!

yeah definitely rememeber the conkers, the running around for PE no matter what the weather and the crunch of dry leaves...i still do that try and step on all the crunchy leaves....probably look a little woohooo but oh well...nice to see you're posting again
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a 'kicker' than a 'cruncher'- you know, when you walk through the piles of leaves in your boots and see them whirling around (the sound effects are also not disappointing). Nowadays though,I'm always a bit weary of what might be lurking underneath aforementioned leaves to be honest.....
